Picture this, if you will: the fabulous setting of Gloucester Blackfriars filled with warm light washing upwards each of its ancient walls, a fully adorned space with seasonal plants, trees, flowers, artefacts, beautiful food displays, packed with invited V.I.P. guests from all over the UK, close family and friends flying over from the USA, Greece and France, excited voices seeing the space for the first time, noise giving way to expectant silence ... 'Animo' starting its journey on October 24th, in the heart of the city's old sector with their first piece that inspired us to become a Contemporary Music duo: 'After all' by Adam Caird.
Sarah spent some time playing her flute in Blackfriars last Tuesday so she could acclimatise and "feel" her sound in the space. The sound was overwhelmingly beautiful.
And I brought my piano... well, the piano template that Coach House Pianos (our official Launch Sponsors) sent me so we could find the optimum spot for it. The most beautiful instrument (Bösendorfer 280 VC) is being delivered on the 23rd so it too can acclimatise (they are very sensitive souls...). After moving the template from wall to wall, we think we have found the right spot for both of us. This is probably the most important decision for us and will define our sound and communication between us and our audience.
once we found the right configuration we then decided to perform 4'33'' by John Cage as a flute and piano arrangement(!).
I think we've made an unconscious pact many years ago to never, ever, take ourselves too seriously!
See you all on the 24th!
We can't wait to share our music with you, welcome you to our world and chat about Animo, life, new projects and enjoy wonderfully prepared food by Cotswold Chic and mingle whilst drinking mulled wine.
A feast for ears, eyes and soul.
Welcome to the world of Animo!
