They loaned us the most beautiful Bösendorfer 280 VC - and I was in heaven. I loved the sound of the bass as it rang like a crystal lake in this ancient monument... beautiful!
What a stunning instrument!
Although I am lucky enough to own a 214VC (used in all our recordings so far), the 280VC made everything sound heavenly, sparkling, crisp, pristine, soulful. I felt relax knowing that there is no possibility of drowning Sarah's beautiful sound; quite the opposite. The 280VC complemented her sound, enriched it and brought out new layers of sound. I could play with the full lid open which was a real treat!
Our wonderful tuner Andrew Reeves worked on the piano over two days to keep its tuning to the desired A=443 to match the tuning of my piano which was used for the pre-recorded material in Joseph Howard's premiere piece 'Ex Arcadia'.
Jack Blanch took all these stunning photos defying gravity as he (safely) elevated himself to places above ground which allowed him to take 'aerial' photos of the venue!
