Greetings from ANIMO!
What a wonderful crescendo at the end of 2022!
HOPE
Our short film 'HOPE' based on Lukas Piel's composition 'The Journey of Alan Kurdi' was premiered on YouTube November 19th and it has already been seen by over 400 viewers.
We are so proud of the work we did with 'Passion Project' (Roman Aguirre) who are based in Arizona USA, Ben Sansom and Annie Taylor-Munt from the UK who directed and shaped the themes that the dancers and actors from both countries realised on this short but poignant film.
It was a passion project for me personally and something that both Sarah and I felt had to be shared with everyone. Lukas's music is powerful and the filmography evokes all the themes that everyone involved wanted to convey: our HOPE for a better world, finding home, feeling safe and loved, being protected, sharing kindness and bringing communities together.
Our 'ANIMO two' CD Album is now a reality and being managed by the amazing PARMA Recordings and released on 'Ravello Records'. We signed with PARMA a few months ago and we look forward to seeing what an impact such promotion and publicity will have on this beautiful album. If you have been following us you would have seen the toil and love that went into recording this album which was recorded under COVID restrictions with our sound technician recording from outside under a gazebo... it was epic! I will never forget our wonderful sound technician Adam Bertenshaw being exiled to an outside gazebo in the midst of one of the coldest winters in the UK and all because of COVID restrictions - so sorry Adam! We recorded for 4 days some of which ran to 14 hours but 'ANIMO two' is now a reality.
We feel humbled by the amazing works that our composers created for us and we treasure every single one of the ANIMO two tracks.
The CD as a hard copy is available direct from us and from January it will be available also on Bandcamp at £10.
The online release is set for December 2nd 2022 by Ravello Records. Can't wait for you to hear it!
Last April 1st, we had the premiere of our MUSIC VIDEO based on 'The Journey of Alan Kurdi'. Some of those shots became part of the short film. The joy of working with Ben Sansom and his crew was immesurable. We spent a fantastic day at St George's Bristol and Ben transformed the space into a period drama set. We will certainly collaborate with Ben again for further music videos.
And as I am going backwards I don't want to miss mentioning the wonderful time we had working with Olly Sansom at SANSOM Studios in Birmingham mixing/editing and mastering a few of the tracks of the 'ANIMO two' album. So, at the end of 2022 we are back to the beginning:) Such beautiful symmetry.
We've had some wonderful gig experiences lately and we hope to capture more in 2023. The next time you'll see us performing live will be at St Briavel's on January 15th 2023.
May this festive season bring peace, music, art and good health to every one of you!
Yanna, on behalf of ANIMO
