Geoff Eales' 'The Last Kiss' was written and recorded by Andy Findon with Geoff Eales at the piano on the CD 'The Dancing Flute'. We discovered Geoff Eales when we came across the album Vocalise published by Astute Music. Eales' musicianship and charismatic Jazz idioms come through this piece which follows a steady waltz pulse which the composer asks us to view without much sentimentality.
We find the piece really intriguing, a calm yet emotional storytelling of one's life events; eloquent and balanced between the two parts. Both parts have a tale to tell and as it unfolds we learn something new each time. A joy to perform as it 'sits' well for both instruments.
James' Rae's fabulously sparkling Aquarelle which is the first movement of his Sonatina
dedicated to the world famous flautist and composer Ian Clarke. We will aim to play it carefree and always pointing forward! Sarah initially thought that the crotchet at 100 is a bit fast, now she is like a racehorse way ahead of me and 100 is a metronome marking that I look back towards with fondness...!
